2010-11-10 Rosyth Dockyard

The viewpoint/layby just east of the village of Newton offers a great view of the Forth Bridges But turn anticlockwise a little and you can see the Rosyth Naval Dockyard laid out in front of you.

The recently-ploughed field gives a strong structure to the lower part of the image, but that abruptly stops when they reach the boundary wall. A small wood finds some living space before the River Forth, and on the opposite bank of the river is an array of curiously-shaped buildings where the secret military work is done.

Beyond the dockyard, the flourishing city of Dunfermline can be seen, bathed in the early morning sunlight.
