2016-08-02 (Day 215) Open Stages

On the Tuesday evening, we were lucky enough to have a talk from Ian Wainwright, of the Royal Shakespeare Company, talking abou tthe RSC’s Open Stages project. In this, the RSC toured the country performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream. At each location, the Mechanicals in the “play within a play” were played by local amateur theatrical performers.

Over the evening he and some of those performers explained the difficulties of working wth over thirty groups of actors across the country, and the rewards both to the amateurs and the professional actors of putting it all together.

And after that? Why a Midsummer Night’s Dream-themed evening, of course!
