Over the past couple of decades, it is probable that there has been more investment in the science, and engineering, of photography than in the previous entire history of the subject.
It’s good to know that by spending hundreds of pounds on a high-end compact digital camera, and hundreds more on advanced photo editing software, I can create an image that is vaguely reminiscent of that which would have been produced by a camera in the 1950s.
Yet somehow it seems fitting.
