2011-05-03 (Day 250) Waverley Station Roof

Edinburgh’s main railway station is Waverley Station, and it in turn is famous for its glass roof.

On 1st May, a massive refurbishment to the station saw the first new pane of glass being fitted as part of a project to replace the entire glass roof. 28,000 panes of glass. That’s a lot of glass.

So in the photograph here we see some of the scaffolding that is being set up to enable the workers to do the job.

28,000 panes. Wow. Think of the noise if you dropped them all at once…
