Today was the day of the Giffnock 10k race. Indeed, it was billed as a "Festival of running", with several races through the evening in the picturesque Rouken Glen Park in Glasgow. I could imagine families picnicking out on the grass, enjoying watching the races and listening to the pipe band playing nearby.

Sadly, the weather did not co-operate. The organisers did a splendid job, but they were still left to herd a group of rather bedraggled runners round a soggy course – I feel really sorry for them.

However, I for one enjoyed my evening race – I hope for the organisers’ sake that the weather is better next year!
