The clock in the foreground here is called the Christie Memorial Clock, and behind that, just visible, is the Black Boy Fountain.

The clock memorialises George Christie (1826-1903), who was a local businessman. The clock was completed in 1906 and was opened by his niece, Miss Oliphant.

The little square is outside my dentist.

It’s seldom good news to be visiting the dentist. But it’s not too bad, just a filling that needs to be replaced.
