I had some time for a quick walk at lunchtime today, so I went along to the burn to see if I could get a photo there.
The picture was taken using an iPhone app called “Spectre”. I think that what it did was to take lots of photos very quickly – possibly even a video – then stabilise them and, rather than showing individual frames in sequence to make a movie, it averaged out each pixel across each frame and generated a result. Which is this.
I like the way that it shows the patterns that the water takes as if flows – the surprisingly uneven surface of the burn as the water finds its way round the impediments in its path. The ever-so-natural brick at the top of the image causing as many problems as the moss-covered rocks in the middle.
