Okay, okay, I know it’s not Christmas time just now. But it was a really dreich day, I was working from home and I only had a very short time to take the dog for a walk and grab a photo. So this is what we’ve got!

Ilex Aquifoliaceae, or holly. These red berries contain up to ten seeds each, according to Wikipedia. Good food source for birds, which poo out the seeds and help the plant to spread. I don’t recommend that you eat them, though (the berries – not the poo. Well, I don’t recommend you eat that either). The berries are generally toxic to humans, causing vomiting and diarrhoea. Just in case you were tempted, you know.

Anyway, in a day that basically grey, this made a nice splash of colour.
