Hogmanay was, until fairly recently, the main winter celebration in Scotland. The big religious festival was easter, on the ground that anyone could be born but it was pretty special to die and be reborn.
Anyway, we Scots have still got a reputation for celebrating New Year with some gusto, and it was in that spirit that we went to Fiona and Colin’s house for a lovely dinner and a chance to bring in the bells.
So here are Marie and I wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
