2011-11-25 (Day 455) Hound Point

Hound Point Marine Terminal is an oil terminal in the River Forth, just east of the famous rail bridge.

Oil that is drilled in the North Sea is refined at Grangemouth and pumped to the Dalmeny Tank farm. That tank farm was somewhere I often used to run past when I worked in South Queensferry.

From there, the oil is piped to the Hound Point Marine Terminal – a structure consisting of two "sea island" berths for oil tankers – and then exported to its destination.

This picture was taken just as the light was going, on a rather cold and blustery afternoon.
