2011-04-27 (Day 244) Grangemouth – Clouds and Steam

I had hoped to have something a little more interesting for the 2/3 point in this project, but that just wasn’t the way things worked out.

Most people who live in "central" Central Scotland are familiar with the town of Grangemouth and the huge oild refinery that dominates it. Fed directly from the North Sea oil rigs, it dominates the town.

Sometimes, the flare from the refinery lights the sky and can be seen from twenty miles away. When that happens the roar is impressive – clearly audible where I live, about three miles away.

Yet in normal operation, it emits little more than these huge jets of steam.

Where does the steam end and the cloud begin?
