2011-09-08 (Day 377) Abercorn Pillarbox

Abercorn is a hamlet that lies between the village of Newton and the Forth estuary. It is famous for its church, which dates back to the twelfth century, but what I found here is considerably younger than that.

The photo is of a Victorian pillar box, embedded in a wall, which is obvously no longer in use. Instead, Mother Nature has taken over, deciding that this is an ideal place in which to start growing poppies…

Who knows – perhaps nature had a helping hand. But it’s still rather cute!
