
This isn’t the picture I was planning to post. I had hoped to get a good angle on the bridge works from the south bank of the river, but realised I would need to walk too far for the time I had available.
However, while looking for that photograph I walked through Port Edgar marina, and saw these folk playing out on the water. As a general rule, I subscribe to the belief that sailing is like "standing in a cold shower and ripping up tenners" (ten-pound notes, for anyone from outside the UK). That saying misses out the feeling of "rubbing your palms with ice-cold sandpaper" that rope handling in Scottish waters brings, but it’s certainly a good starting point.
But these guys seemed to be having a lot of fun, and it did look rather nice… so this is the photo of the day today.
And don’t be fooled by the blue sky – it was pretty chilly out there!
