I’ve known for a while that there must be a great view over the harbour from somewhere in Inverkeithing; today was the first day that I went out to try to find it. It wasn’t hard – if in doubt, go uphill! The eventual location where I stopped is in the geotag.
Anyway, in front of you there is Inverkeithing Harbour, which I believe is mostly used as a ship breaking yard – a kind of scrappy for old ships.
Behind that it North Queensferry quarry, owned by Tarmac, and producing sand and gravel.
The view is much more easterly than I had realised – the land on the far side of the river is Dalmeny, and the snow-covered hill at the far right of the picture is in the Pentlands.
The passenger train on the Fife Circle line just set it off nicely 🙂
