I was out for a leaving do with a few folk tonight, and snapped this on the way back home.

At the right-hand side is the wildly up-market Balmoral Hotel. The huge glassy area is the roof of the Waverley Station – over 34,000 sqare metres of glass in that roof, just recently replaced in its entirity.

And at the right-hand edge of the picture, the under-construction Big Wheel. It’s not a lighting effect; there is only half of it there. But it won’t be long before it’s running as part of Edinburgh’s Christmas celebrations
