Anstruther is at the centre of a fishing community, so it is no surprise that the arrival of a replacement lifeboat is a big event for the town. The new lifeboat – of the “Shannon” class – arrived at precisely 13:47, to match the lifeboat’s “13-47” numerical designation.
The new lifeboat is a £2.5m replacement for the town’s previous lifeboat, which served mariners in the area for over forty years.
