2024-08-09 (Day 222) Presentations Day

So, the final day of the school. And a bit of a weird one it was too.

The day started well – we went over the presentation that our class was doing, tidying it up a bit, it was as close to ready as it was going to get. And then it was lunchtime, and the presentations. All of which, I would say, went really well.

And after that, with the main work of the school done, a few of us went out to play frisbee for a while, and that was lovely. That took us up to dinner time.

So after dinner I went out and some of the people who had been playing frisbee were now playing with a gymnastics hoop, and I thought I would give that a go. Turns out that I am rubbish with a gymnastics hoop. So be it. I can learn.

I gave up on that, and went to my room to do a little bit of packing, to make it easier to get out tomorrow morning, and also to start getting ready for the party – an (optionally) fancy-dress party with a theme of ‘Danse Macabre’.

However, within about five minutes I was shivering – really shivering. I lay down in the bed to warm up, and realised I didn’t really want to get up from it. So I stayed there just a little while. I was still shivering, yet my forehead felt really warm and my Apple Watch was buzzing to tell me that I was showing signs of tachycardia – elevated heart rate without activity to justify it.

And so, I lay in bed. And didn’t get to the party after all. Which was a shame – I had been looking forward to it.

This photo is of the end of our presentation, and was taken by Barry Hall – thank you to him for permission to use it. I am on stage, but am at the back right of the picture, hidden by others in the foreground. But I loved the fisheye aspect of this picture, which nicely captured the zaniness of the piece!
