2024-08-23 (Day 236) Nicolton Road

This is Nicolton Road, a small single-track toad that goes to the M9. I’m guessing it perhaps doesn’t have a great future ahead of it, as it goes through land that is earmarked for development.

Interestingly, people who grew up in this area seem to call it The Level. I’ve not been able to find out why, and I would love to know. But all the maps I have seen call it Nicolton Road and I guess that’s what I will be calling it too.

However, while trying to find out the history of the name I came across https://maps.nls.uk/os/ where you can browse historic OS maps of Scotland and beyond. I might be wasting a lot of time on that site!
