I unexpectedly found myself in central Edinburgh this evening and so went for a wee walk along Princes Street. While there I noticed the Scott Monument, beautifully lit to highlight Scott himself.

Construction of the monument started in 1840, and the centrepiece of it is of course the statue of Scott. This was sculpted from a 30-ton piece of marble, and shows Scott, comfortably dressed in a long Oodie, and with his dog Malda at his right hand side.
