Linlithgow’s motto is “St Michael is kinde to strangers”, and this statue to St Michael was created in 2020 but – due to COVID – not unveiled until 2022. The sculptor was Alan Herriot, and it depicts St Michael slaying a dragon while wearing the Linlithgow coat of arms (the dragon reference presumably being Revelation 12, where Satan took the form of a dragon during his battle with Michael)
