This is a curious one, which I saw while out for a run today.

The river you see at top of the frame is an overflow from the Union Canal (the Union canal follows the contour and has several overflows along its length to handle situations where there is too much water in the canal). The steps are from the field beside the towpath, and go down the hill to the overflow – then top. There is no platform, no mooring for a boat or anything like that – they just stop.

Slightly weird, but interesting none the less.
