The Binns Tower, designed by Alexander Allan in 1826, and claimed to be the result of a wager placed with the then-owner of the House Of The Binns – James Dalyell. The Dalyell family continued, with its most prominent recent member being Tam Dalyell, MP for Linlithgow who posed the famous West Lothian Question – one that still causes challenges to Westminster today.
