Out for a lunchtime walk I noticed this massive fungal growth on a tree stump. Each “leaf” is in excess of 30cm at its widest – it’s huge.

Apple tells me that this is Dryad’s Saddle, a fungus that helps rot the dead tree stump and break it down into nutrients which enrich the soil. It also tells me that the fungus is edible when cooked, though when it is older it can become infested with maggots.

Eh… naw.
