I was out for a walk in the woods with Tess today, when the path led us to the edge of the woods and an open view over the Forth Valley. And since that’s a kind of picture I always enjoy, here goes:
At the extreme left of the picture, on the other side of the river, we can see the Ochils. I’m thinking that we are seeing Ben Clecuh as the highest point, with Ben Ever as the closer top on the left of the peak, and The Law to its right. Below that, we see the two bridges that cross the Forth at this point; the Clackmannanshire bridge on the left and the older Kincardine Bridge on the right. Alongside them we can see the pylons supporting the 275kV Forth Crossing electricity cables, these being the highest electricity pylons in Scotland.
A solitary wind turbine dominates the skyline further east, and then our attention is drawn to the cooling towers of the Grangemouth oil refinery and petrochemical plants, both on this side of the river
Closer we have the houses of the Whyteside area of Polmont, and closer again the sheep quietly graze and enjoy the warmth of the day.
And for what it’s worth, the accelerometer in my phone told me that the camera was being held horizontally. Any feeling that the horizon is lower on the right than the left is just an illusion!
