I went out to Plean parkrun today. It was a run that I enjoyed, but this statue beside the car park made me think.

As with so many “country park” areas in Central Scotland, this used to be a coal mine. The mines all closed in the eighties, and overall that is probably a good thing for reasons of carbon Dioxide emissions. But it still had a sever impact on so many local areas and the people living in them. I do like the statue here.
