This is the USA/Mexico border at its westernmost end. Just out of shot to the right of the photograph, there are twelve-foot high panels making a solid wall. As the fence nears the beach, it is changed into an open metalled fence. And then, a bunch of sticks.

Oh – and a Border Patrol officer in a car, probably armed. And a selection of CCTV cameras. And a sign warning you that there may be nasty sharp things in the water…
