Today marks 365 days of learning French with Duolingo. It’s not exactly a year since I started – I’ve missed a few days over the year – but Duolingo has the rather fine concept of a Streak Freeze, where you can miss a day and not lose all the credit you have built up.

I’ve been pretty impressed with it, I have to say. It has taken my second-year of high school French and improved it quite significantly. I don’t know what would happen if I tried going to France and attempting to learn the language, but I do have a lot more vocabulary and grammar knowledge than I had before I started.

Maybe I should start watching French kids’ TV programmes… the ones aimed at four year olds!
