Hobbies are great. Hobbies are things you do for nobody but yourself. They shouldn’t be criticised or justified (unless they impact other people, of course), they’re just what you do in your spare time for your own enjoyment.
Take fishing as an example. It does nothing for me. But clearly there are lots of people to whom it does appeal.
To support them, fisheries seem to have sprung up all over the place. These inland lochs are set up with comfortable places to do your fishing from, albeit still out in the wind and the rain, and stocked with trout or whatever other kind of fish are used.
This is Drumtassie fishery, in the land between the M8 and M9 corridors. Accessed only by single-track roads and surrounded by wind turbines it may not be the most easily reached place around but it is very pretty and peaceful.
I guess one of my hobbies is exploring all these little back roads around where I live and trying to discover new and interesting places – this one definitely counts!
