Tomorrow is the Glasgow Half Marathon, and I have a place. I have been having a little bit of an ankle niggle lately and, after feeling a bit unsure this morning I decided to go out for a wee jog along the canal and back just to check it was okay. I was surprised to see the footpath full of people in brightly-coloured clothing – then I realised it was the Glasgow To Edinburgh Ultra.

This has been an event I have wanted to do since I first came across it in 2012. It’s a 57-mile ultra between Scotland’s two largest cities – it starts at the Transport Museum and ends up in Saughton in Edinburgh.

Well, I’ve been wanting to do this for years and I ain’t getting any younger – so if tomorrow goes well… I’m in for 2025!
