The RAF is holding a major exercise this week, including the use of RAF Leuchars. And as a result we saw this Chinook flying overhead today – actually there were two of them but I wasn’t quick enough with my camera to get them both.

What to say about this? I do rather feel as if we are living in the 1930s right now, and I just hope we don’t go the way that decade went. Putin is expansionist, trying to build Russian influence and grow its territory. I can understand why Trump is reluctant to spend huge amounts of American resources defending Europe, but by forcing Europe to become a military that creates a new military bloc that will not always agree with the US – thus creating future power struggle that neither territory needs.

Meanwhile Trump appears to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Moscow, parroting Russian propaganda about the Ukraine.

I’m… not feeling entirely positive about the coming few years.
