This is a? the? entrance to Couston Lakes, a disused quarry that has been / is being converted into a “Self sustaining holiday resort”. It has the potential to be a great location, and I thought it would be nice to have a quick look around, but the gate was closed and I really am not sure whether the resort is open or not.

Maybe this is not intended to be the main way in and is just an overflow / emergency entrance. I don’t know.. It does all feel a bit odd – why, for example, would anyone call a Scottish property something “lakes”?
